Thursday started out with a bang, heck I didn’t even know it was Thursday until my sister in law Lydia told me what day it was while we were on a run early in the morning. Selfishly I wish she would just stay home for good, it’s so nice having a running buddy, I could really get used to it! We hammered out 3 miles in 30 minutes because we’re beastly like that.
Boy, my mouth is on FIRE right now, I’m snacking on some cayenne covered roasted Zucchini thanks to STUFTMama.
Let me tell you I am NOT a spicy person but Kristin is constantly posting photos of her roasted zucchini covered in red pepper flakes and they always look so appetizing, and it is…BUT my mouth is hot. At least I’m sucking down tons of water trying to cool it down a little! But after I got back from my run this morning and showered something came in the mail, also thanks to StuftMama!
My new Mizuno running sneakers I won through her blog contest a few days ago. Mizuno is holding a project called the Mizuno Mezamashii Project, and with my invite to the program came these awesome new sneaks! Which I so badly needed. When I first opened them I just wanted to tie them right up and go back out running, like they had some magic fairy dust on them. BUT my house needed cleaned so I waited to test them out later in the evening with a walk to the park with the kiddos.
They felt awesome on my feet, like I was walking on the beach or on clouds, yes I know that sounds cheesy. I just wanted to take off running, but pushing three children in a stroller and running would have been a little difficult, so I just cherished the moment to go for a peaceful walk.
This is my sit n’ stand, and LAY stoller, haha a triple jogging stroller would be nice. I bet they only cost $1000.
Brothers, aren’t they the best?
Me trying to be all cool with my new sneaks, thanks Kristin and Mizuno!
Now let’s rewind a few hours back to our shopping trip. I had to stop at Freshlife to pick up a few little goodies to include in my foodie pen pal package for July. If you’ve ever been to Fresh life you know those carts are TINY. I could barely balance Eden’s carseat in the child seat thing. The boys just had to walk. I’ve taken all three kids there before and it was a pain, but the employees at Freshlife are SO nice and they are always so welcoming. Makes me want to get a job there.
So we’re in the back corner looking at the spices and the kids are being pretty decent. Until all of a sudden Levi and the cart go crashing over, the cart falling on Levi, Levi knocking down a display, and Eden’s carseat falling out as well. THANKFULLY Eden was strapped in, AND she didn’t even seem to notice. But Levi was a mess, bloody nose, in shock, and of course in pain. My poor baby, his nose kept bleeding. Again the employees were right there to help, they had wet paper towels, and little trash bag, they even watched Eden and Judah while I took Levi to the bathroom to clean him and I up. While we were in the bathroom PooPoo was such a good girl and Judah helped pick up the display that went toppling over. Thankfully nothing broke, it was just bottles of vegetable and fruit cleaning spray (I probably should have bought one ha).
So in conclusion, don’t take too many children to Freshlife, pick your favorite and stick with just one. Haha, I love that store. And no, I don’t have pictures of that, I probably already looked like a bad mother between what happened, Levi’s big goose-egg on his face from getting hit by a bat the day before, and marker all over both the boys, I’m sure taking pictures of the scene would have gotten my children taken away.
So what better way to make things better then with some new cookies? NEW, clean, healthy, cookies?
Those are some white cookies! I present Honey Almond Oat Cookies! Sad thing is I packed them up for my Foodie Pen Pal to enjoy, but since they turned out so good I may just whip up another batch tomorrow. I’m getting low of my vegetable stash so I might need to bribe Jim again.
I’m mailing out my package tomorrow (has to be mailed by the 15th) so I’m really nervous they won’t be fresh by the time they get to Chicago! (I wonder how much THAT’S going to cost.)
There sweet, taste like honey…duh, and almondy! Who doesn’t love the smell of almond extract? And made with wholesome ingredients.
Honey Almond Oat Cookies
Makes 12-14 cookies
2/3 cup Almond Meal
2/3 cup Quick Oats
1/3 cup Whole Wheat Pastry Flour
1/2 cup Honey (I used Raw Orange Blossom, Ben’s uncle makes it, YUM!!)
2 TBS Coconut Oil (melted, not the Olivio spread)
1 tsp. Almond Extract
1 Egg White
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. All I did was take a medium sized bowl, mixed together the dry ingredients first, then poured all the wet ingredients in and stirred together real well. Use a Tablespoon measure to spoon out the dough on a parchment paper lined baking tray. Use the parchment paper, you’ll be happy you did. Now bake for 10 short minutes.
This post sure has been all over the place and I’m not even finished yet. I didn’t get to show you my dinner I had before our walk…
Big bed of spring mix lettuce, roasted zucchini and yellow squash, shredded chicken breast, topped with fat free poppyseed dressing.
After our walk we came home just in time for bedtime (yay!) but the boys really needed a bath, and PooPoo wanted some dinner…or so I thought.
I guess not…
She’s the messiest eater ever, hopefully as she gets more experience (she doesn’t eat much baby food yet) she’ll learn to keep some in her mouth instead of blowing rasberries and grabbing the spoon out of my hand.
Looking forward to a quiet day tomorrow, a few loads of laundry, maybe more baking, and maybe a new protein shake recipe will be created. Hope everyone has a fun Friday, this weekend is loaded with fun and I can’t wait!

Emily! I loved reading this blog post! First of all, running sounds amazing. I haven’t been able to run as often as what I would like lately. Second, your new sneakers are awesome! Third, your Freshlife story was cracking me up! Sounds like something that would happen to me. Glad your kids are all ok.
Have a good weekend!
